After the Nordiques, Anderson MacGyver enters Germany
Having previously expanded to the Nordic countries, Netherlands-based management consultancy Anderson MacGyver has now landed in Germany.
This decision is, according to Rik Bijmholt, one of the co-founders and directors of the firm, part of its ambition to become “a leading European consulting firm for strategic advice on data and technology” . Since its founding in 2013, Anderson MacGyver has specialized in digital transformation, helping clients with strategy through to fulfillment.
“The decision to open an office in Germany was a logical step in our business strategy,” said Bijmholt. “Many of our customers are located in Europe’s largest economy and, moreover, Germany is an excellent springboard for further expansion in the German-speaking region. ”
Germany is the second largest consulting market in Europe, with the DACH region as a whole generating more than 12 billion euros in fees according to a conservative estimate by Source Global Research. A broader estimate of the market size by the German National Association of Consulting Firms BDU puts the German consulting industry at 35 billion euros.
While Germany is at the same time one of the most competitive regions for consultants, Bijmholt sees several opportunities for Anderson MacGyver to successfully nestle in the local market. “We work for international clients in all industries, and Germany is home to dozens of leading companies in the market – it’s totally our way. ”
Clients the consulting firm works with include French industrial engineering company SPIE, Rituals Cosmetics, energy supplier and producer Eneco Group and Vanderlande, one of the world’s largest suppliers of handling systems.
“The North Rine-Westphalia region, which will be our main area of interest in the early stages, is a digital hotspot. This is where our specialization comes in: we are experts at helping companies develop their digital agenda and shape the next roadmap, and guide them on their journey to a digital future.
Leading the charge in Germany is Sönke Thoms, who brings to the company extensive experience in IT strategy and implementation. He is a former director of consulting services for international consulting firm CGI. Prior to that, he accumulated years of experience in the financial services industry and held various leadership roles within the technology company CKC.
“I am very proud and delighted to be a part of the Anderson MacGyver family. Together we aim to build something new and impactful, ”he said.
The German team – based in Düsseldorf – will be able to draw on the expertise and proximity of its Dutch colleagues. In his home market, Anderson MacGyver was recently named one of the the main digital consulting firms by Consultancy.nl, an industrial platform.
