THE AMBER Group continues its global expansion with a new acquisition, this time in South Africa. The tech conglomerate has acquired a 100% stake in Internet of Things (IoT) hardware maker Intelli-Business Solutions Limited (Pty) Limited (IBS), which will be renamed Amber IoT.

The acquisition strengthens Amber Group’s position as a global technology company, as it now has the ability to add the design, development and manufacture of its own electronic equipment to its offering. This complements its world-class software development expertise and solutions.

Over the past 13 years, IBS has been a leading developer of IoT solutions, having brought to market numerous end-to-end hardware products developed for the banking, insurance and security industries in South Africa.

IBS also specializes in manufacturing hardware devices for the Sigfox IoT Zero-G network. Sigfox is a revolutionary technology that enables communication between IoT devices and its end user, without depending on traditional mobile networks.

Michael McNaughton, Managing Director of Amber Group, said: “With this acquisition, Amber Group can now provide innovative hardware solutions to our enterprise customers. This development also combines our expertise and proven software capabilities with the hardware capability of IBS, to strengthen our ability to complete end-to-end projects for our customers and develop our own breakthrough solutions. With the rapid changes in technology, it was only a matter of time before we added IoT manufacturing to our range of services and we are excited about what lies ahead for Amber and our various stakeholders.

Frikkie Geyser, Managing Director of Amber IoT and former Managing Director of IBS, said: “This is an exciting time for our company as the acquisition by Amber now positions us to really accelerate our business innovation and become a player even more importantly on a global scale, which can provide global technology solutions. We believe this significant expansion is a game-changer and look forward to adding more value to our customers. »
