Appgate announces three promotions to its management team

Appgate has announced several promotions within its leadership team: Jason Garbis, who served as Appgate’s senior vice president of products, has been promoted to the new role of chief product officer; Kurt Glazemakers, who was senior vice president of engineering, has been promoted to chief technology officer; and Jeffrey North, who previously served as senior vice president of operations, now assumes the role of the company’s new chief operating officer.

In the newly created role of Chief Product Officer, Jason Garbis is responsible for the company’s security product strategy and lifecycle, from concept and development to launch and customer adoption.

Garbis has over 30 years of product management, engineering and consulting experience in security and technology companies, most notably as Vice President of Product at Cryptzone prior to its acquisition by Appgate.

In addition, at RSA, he focused on their identity management and governance products. Garbis recently co-authored the book Zero Trust Security: An Enterprise Guide and is also co-chair of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) SDP Zero Trust Working Group, where he helps lead research and publication initiatives.

Kurt Glazemakers is a technology leader with more than two decades of experience in security, networking, cloud and virtualization and has been Senior Vice President of Engineering at Appgate since January 2020.

Glazemakers is renowned for its in-depth knowledge of agile software development, especially in software-defined networks and the cloud. Prior to joining Appgate, he was CTO of CloudFounders, a developer of advanced private cloud technologies, and CTO Europe of Terremark (now part of Verizon), where he was responsible for the development of the Enterprise Cloud IaaS offering.

As COO for Appgate, Jeffrey Nord is responsible for leading the global operations, IT and GRC (governance, risk and compliance) teams at Appgate. Prior to the Cyxtera business split, Jeff was the Senior Vice President of Service Delivery for Cyxtera’s colocation business.

Prior to this role, Nord held leadership roles at Verizon, where he led the integration of the Cloud and Managed Services business units of Terremark and Verizon into a single global operational organization. Its team of more than 1,800 employees was responsible for service delivery, customer support, infrastructure engineering and change management across Verizon’s broad portfolio of cloud and hosting services.
