Canada’s share is higher at the close of trading; S&P/TSX Composite Index up 1.34%

Investing.com – Canadian stocks were higher at Monday’s close, as gains in sectors , and propelled stocks higher.

The biggest gainers in the session were Cargojet Inc (TSX:), which rose 11.14% or 13.62 points to trade at 135.83 at the close. Shaw Communications Inc Class B (TSX:) added 7.79% or 2.70 points to end at 37.34 and Rogers Communications Inc. (TSX:) rose 5.88% or 3.47 points to 62.48 late in the session.
Biggest Losers Included Bombardier Inc. (TSX:), which fell 5.93% or 1.60 points to trade at 25.37 late in the session. Parex Resources Inc. (TSX:) lost 5.60% or 1.33 points to end at 22.41 and Osisko Mining Corp (TSX:) lost 4.88% or 0.18 points to 3.51.
Rising stocks outnumbered falling stocks by 643 to 335 and 97 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX compound options, fell 7.31% to 22.84.
In commodities trading, gold futures for August delivery rose 0.01% or 0.10 to $1,840.70 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, crude oil for August delivery rose 0.72% or 0.78 to $108.77 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.99% or 1 .12 to trade at $114.24 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.35% at 0.77, while CAD/EUR was unchanged 0.25% at 0.73.
US dollar index futures fell 0.20% to 104.28.
