HANOI, VIETNAM – Media reach – July 27, 2021 – Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest conglomerate, today announced that it has appointed Michael Lohscheller as CEO of its VinFast Global automotive division. Lohscheller will be responsible for the development of operations and the presence of VinFast worldwide.

Michael Lohscheller gained leadership experience in finance, technology, purchasing and logistics before becoming the former executive vice president of the Volkswagen Group of America. From VW he moved to Opel where he became CEO over the past four years. Under his leadership, Lohscheller led Opel to sustainable profitability after decades of losses. He also oversaw the transformation of Opel into a brand of electrified cars.

About the career of Michael Lohscheller

Born in 1968, the German CEO graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück (Germany) and the University of Barcelona (Spain) in 1992. During his working years, Michael Lohscheller completed a program of Masters in European Marketing Management and graduated from Brunel University London in 1996.

Active in the automotive industry for over 20 years, Michael Lohscheller has held various senior positions: Executive Vice President and CFO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe, Executive Vice President and CFO of Volkswagen Group of America, Director Executive Officer at Opel Automobile GmbH and member of the board of directors of the PSA group, etc.

During his tenure as CEO of Opel, Michael Lohscheller has honorably received prestigious awards for excellent automotive managers: Eurostar 2019 (Automotive News), Manbest 2019 (Autobest) and Manager of the year 2019 (AutoZeitung).

Michael Lohscheller has been widely recognized for his prowess in business strategy, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, financial analysis, pricing strategy.
