Investing.com – Tesla (NASDAQ 🙂 stock traded down 0.4% in pre-market on Thursday following the announcement by transportation safety organization NHTSA that the automaker electric vehicle recalls 475,318 vehicles for two separate safety issues.
A Dec. 21 notice posted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website said Tesla was recalling all 2017-2020 Model 3 vehicles. According to the statement, the wiring harness of the vehicles rear view camera may be damaged by opening and closing the trunk lid, preventing the display of the rear view camera image.
Tesla will inspect and install a guide protector and new wire harness free of charge if needed.
The second issue is with the company’s Model S vehicles manufactured between 2014 and 2021. Here, the vehicles front trunk latch assembly may be misaligned, preventing the secondary hood latch from engaging. As such, these vehicles do not meet the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standards, the NHTA said.
In either case, Tesla will perform the necessary repairs free of charge. According to the security organization, Tesla is expected to send a letter to vehicle owners by February 18 to inform them of the proposed remedy.
