Würth opens first flagship store in North America with 24/7 technology concept provided by Wanzl

LEIPHEIM, Germany & VAUGHAN, Canada – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – The 24/7 self-service store concept developed by Wanzl in collaboration with Würth is already established in Germany. Now, the Würth Canadian branch of the assembly and fastening materials supplier has followed this frictionless format, which gives customers the ability to shop around the clock through a Würth eShop account. Würth Canada Ltd. opened the first flagship store in North America in September this year, located in Vaughan, a city in the Greater Toronto Area. This is an important step for Würth and Wanzl North America (NA).

Würth offers more than 4,000 products in the Canadian store 24/7. From hardware and hand tools, chemicals, electrical supplies, abrasives and PPE, Würth has what you need for your everyday industrial needs. Like the German 24/7 stores, this store is a hybrid solution. As Würth Vice President Goran Abramovic explains, “We want to provide our customers with the best shopping experience, no matter how they choose to buy from us. During normal business hours, we invite all customers to come and see the breadth of our product line, receive products and technical advice from our trained staff, and pay for their purchases at the service checkout. authorized business customers can access the functionality 24/7 at any time (day or night) with their Würth eShop account activated. Whether someone needs an item early in the morning, late at night, on a weekend or on a holiday, Würth is always there for you. ”

Store technology, store equipment and support – Wanzl North America’s contribution

Wanzl NA provided a turnkey solution for this project by transferring the self-checkout concept from the German 24/7 Würth stores. As with the German stores, Wanzl is responsible for the back-end technology in the Canadian store 24/7. At its heart is the WanzlConnect® software platform. All technical store processes are controlled via WanzlConnect, including 24/7 access. Approved customers must log into their Würth eShop account to access the store and request a QR code. They scan the code at the outside entrance of the store to enter the building, and a second time inside at the eGate entry system. Once in the store, the customer can browse the wide range of products at their leisure for up to one hour.

To purchase, the customer scans the QR code at the exit doors and accesses the self-service kiosk via a Wanzl Galaxyport. To initiate payment, the initial QR code is scanned at the self-service payment station. Here, the goods are scanned and automatically debited from the customer’s Würth eShop account.

The modern, structured look of Würth Canada store design borrows heavily from Würth Germany stores, which were co-developed last year with Wanzl Germany. Wanzl NA supplied “wire tech 100®” shelves for product display, hand baskets, shopping carts and local woodworking supplies, such as the Service Desk and decorative items. In addition, on-site installation, assembly and commissioning was the responsibility of Wanzl, as was continuous 24/7 technical support for Würth Canada.

Ben Hinnen, CEO of Wanzl North America, said: “This is the first Würth 24/7 store in North America and a clear demonstration of Wanzl’s global capabilities as a partner, locally operated. Wanzl is a supplier of complete solutions not only of products, including self-checkout systems, but also of the development of the store concept through planning, design and installation, in addition to the full technical support of the cycle of life during current operations. ”
